Recent news and such

Well, unfortunately as hard as we tried, we regret that we have to inform everyone that we weren't able to have Purr Rock Revolution be an all ages event this year.

This is due to the fact that when you're in a crowded bar, even with as much security as we've got lined up, it is still very difficult to make sure that everyone who is under the age of 21 is not drinking.  In the end, we all decided that since it would be the responsibility of the bar owner (and his ass if a minor was caught drinking) it was probably best if we didn't do an all ages show this year.

In addition to this, I would like to announce a few updates to the website.  I have finally got those last two time slots filled, and hence, have a complete list of bands that are lined up to do this thing.  I also added a link on the homepage for those who would like to read about what all we have in store for this year.

There is now also a completed list of people on the volunteers page who have been good enough to donate their sweat, blood, and tears to serve your needs during the festival, so check out that page, and be sure to thank them for all their hard work!  After all, if it wern't for them, making a full blown rock festival happen would be very very difficult.

Also, as soon as our account information goes through, tickets will be on sale online!  Watch out for that next week!  Just a heads up, tickets will also be on sale the day of the festival at the door.  We will be using Paypal for all online sales, so if you don't have a Paypal account, now would be a good time to sign up.  IT'S FREE!  Ticket prices will be as follows:

Online (ahead of time):  $10.00

At the door (the day of):  $15.00

Oh wow, look at that.  Berly a day went by, and I'm poking around on the website making small, but in the end, much needed adjustments to a few things.

Nothing too major, I just rearranged a few things so that the site looks better organized and is easier to navigate and read.

I also put up an affiliate link to Hottopic.com, so be sure to check them out.

There is also a messageboard up ( http://z9.invisionfree.com/Purr_Rock_Revolution/index.php?act=idx ).  It is 100% free to join.  All you do is sign up, and that will be the place to talk with like-minded individuals, and keep up-to-date with the latest Purr Rock developments.

Updates and such

So then, I suppose this could be considered the very first Purr Rock Revolution blog.  I don't quite know why I created this, other than to have a place to post important news and updates.

So then...What is Purr Rock Revolution?

Well, for the most part, Purr Rock Revolution was created to promote the growth of local musicians and artists.  Although the main focus of Purr Rock is music, we also do our best to promote art and photography.

Think about it...How often to you ever see a place letting a local band play all of their original music?  Almost never, right?  Most parts and clubs in our area allow bands to play up to three of their original songs per night.  Therefore, the fact that they have talent pretty much goes unknown, and people tend to write them off as just another cover band.

We decided that we wanted to give local musicians a chance to have a say in what music they get to play, and we've decided that the best way to do that isn't to try and change the minds of bar owners, but to organize our own event.  Hence, the creation of Purr Rock Revolution.

Purr Rock Revolution is literally the place "where the music of the future happens"

Since we first started to formulate our little idea, much has happened.  The official website for Purr Rock Revolution (www.purr-rock.com) where you can buy your tickets, see what bands are in the line up for this year's festival, view the list of sponsors, and talk with other local music fans on our messageboard has gone up, and so has the official Purr Rock Revolution Myspace page (myspace.com/purr_rock).

Check out all of this cool stuff, and don't forget to bookmark this blog so that you can stay up to date with the latest developments.
